Planning Office Furniture: From the CEO Room to the Workstation

Planning Office Furniture: From the CEO Room to the Workstation

06 Sep 2026 · 2 min read · Trident Furniture

A practical checklist for furnishing every space in your office — executive rooms, conference rooms, reception, workstations and storage.

A well-planned office helps people work better and makes a strong impression on visitors. Whether you are setting up a new office or upgrading one, plan space by space.

CEO and directors' rooms

These rooms are about authority and comfort. Choose a senior executive table with enough surface for meetings across the desk, a high-back executive chair with good lumbar support, and a small sofa set with a center table for informal meetings. A side cabinet or bookshelf behind the desk keeps files and awards organised.

Manager and executive rooms

Here, function comes first: an executive table with drawers, a comfortable swivel chair, two visitor chairs and a file cabinet or almirah. Keep the walking space clear so the room does not feel crowded.

Conference room

  1. Measure the room and allow about 75–90 cm behind each chair so people can stand and move.
  2. Plan about 60 cm of table edge per person.
  3. Choose chairs that are comfortable for long meetings — padded seats and arms help.
  4. Think about cables for laptops and a screen.

Reception and waiting area

First impressions happen here. A reception desk, a comfortable sofa or waiting chairs, a small center table and good lighting make visitors feel welcome.

Workstations and open office

For teams, choose computer tables or workstations with enough depth for a monitor (at least 60 cm), cable management and a drawer unit under each desk. Chairs should be height-adjustable. Leave aisles of at least 1 metre.

Training rooms and auditoriums

Use stackable or classroom chairs, benches and a lecture stand. Flexible furniture lets you change the layout for workshops and presentations.

Storage and filing

Almirahs, file cabinets and shelves keep the office tidy. Plan storage close to the teams that use it most.

Quick checklist

  • Count people today and leave room for growth.
  • Choose one material and colour family so all rooms look connected.
  • Prioritise ergonomic chairs — people sit in them all day.
  • Ask for a site visit for larger offices.
