King, Double or Semi-Double? A Guide to Choosing the Right Bed Size
18 Sep 2026 · 2 min read · Trident Furniture
How to choose a bed size that fits your room, your mattress and the way you sleep — with a simple measuring checklist.
The bed is the biggest piece in most bedrooms, so getting the size right shapes the whole room. Here is how to choose with confidence.
Common bed sizes in Bangladesh
Mattress sizes vary between makers, but these are the sizes most commonly used here:
- King — around 6 ft × 7 ft (72" × 84"). Generous space for two adults, and very comfortable if a child often joins you.
- Double / Queen — around 5 ft × 7 ft (60" × 84"). The most popular size for couples and master bedrooms of average size.
- Semi-double — around 4 ft × 7 ft (48" × 84"). Ideal for one adult who likes space, guest rooms and teenagers' rooms.
- Single — around 3–3.5 ft wide. Best for children's rooms and small spaces.
Remember that the bed frame is always larger than the mattress — headboards, side rails and footboards add several inches. On every Trident bed we list the full outside size so you can plan accurately.
Measure your room first
- Measure the length and width of the room and note doors, windows and switches.
- Leave at least 60–75 cm (2–2.5 ft) of walking space on the sides you will use to get in and out of bed.
- Leave enough room at the foot of the bed to open wardrobe doors and drawers fully.
- Mark the bed size on the floor with tape and walk around it — it is the easiest way to "see" the space.
Think about how you sleep
- Couples who move a lot at night are usually happier in a king.
- A double fits most master bedrooms and leaves room for a dressing table and wardrobe.
- For a guest room that is also a study, a semi-double leaves space for a reading table.
Storage beds
If your room is small, consider a bed with storage drawers or a box underneath — it keeps blankets and seasonal clothes out of sight without needing an extra cabinet.
Match the set
A bed looks best with matching bedside cabinets, a dressing table and a wardrobe from the same series. Many of our bed models come in King and Double sizes on the same product page, so you can compare prices easily. See our beds.
